Jon HoeflingUSA TODAY

The 2024 NFL schedules have been officially released. Although we knew the opponents for each team months ago, the actual schedule sheds a lot more light. Will one team get all their toughest opponents on the road? Will another team have to face a bunch of perennial Super Bowl contenders right at the tail end of the season? These are the types of questions that could make or break your favorite team's season.

Of course, all of that is based on the idea that nothing will change in the near future. There are still trades that could be made, injuries that could be suffered, scandals that could be exposed, all of which would have a profound effect on how well a team will perform in the upcoming season. Still, as it stands, there are undoubtedly a few teams with distinct advantages over others thanks to their schedules.

Here are the ten teams with the toughest schedules of the season, based on 2023 win percentage.

NFL schedule: What are the best grudge games of 2024?

Ranking based on NFL strength of schedule, which looks at opponent win% from 2023.

10) New England Patriots (.512 opponent win percentage in 2023)

Obviously, the Patriots were always going to have six tough games on their schedule considering they'd have to face the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets (with a presumably healthy Aaron Rodgers) six times this season. However, they are going to have an even tougher time than originally imagined.

Not only did their fourth-place finish in the AFC East lock them into a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, but their division will have to face the entirety of the AFC South next year, a division that saw three of its teams finish above .500. Even worse, the Patriots will have to take on the NFC West next year as well, which includes matchups with three teams that finished over .500 including the NFC's No. 1 seed from a year ago, the San Francisco 49ers.

9) Las Vegas Raiders (.512)

The Las Vegas Raiders drew a pretty solid stick for 2024. Sure, they'll have to face all four teams in the daunting AFC North, but they also get to face the pitiful NFC South. All's well that ends well, right?

Well, unfortunately for the Raiders, they will still have to face the Chiefs twice. Furthermore, they'll also have to take on a Rams team that overperformed last season and just had their first first-round draft pick since 2016. They'll certainly be a tough win for a Raiders team that still hasn't figured out their quarterback situation.

8) Jacksonville Jaguars (.512)

Looking at their opponents, Jacksonville's schedule appears easier than the win percentage would suggest. The Jaguars will only have seven games against playoff teams from a season ago, meaning ten games will be against non-playoff teams. However, as the Jaguars are in the AFC South, they will still have to face two teams (Indianapolis and Houston) who finished over .500 twice each. On top of that, the Jaguars single NFC East matchup will be against the Philadelphia Eagles, not exactly the easiest team to draw a random matchup against.

7) New York Giants (.516)

Now this is the opposite of what you want to see if you're a Giants fan. There is so much dismay on the team currently. Star tight end Darren Waller could still retire. Daniel Jones has still yet to prove capable of being a franchise cornerstone. While many consider the Washington Commanders to be one of the biggest winners from the draft, the Giants had what many consider to be a pretty middle-of-the-road draft class.

The Giants were always going to have at least four difficult games between their four matchups against the Eagles and Cowboys. However, it gets even tougher as the Giants will have to face the entirety of the AFC North this year as well, a division that saw all four teams finish above .500.

6) Buffalo Bills (.516)

As is always the case with a 17-game schedule, half of all teams will have more road games than home games. The Bills fall into the that category this year. Even worse, more than half of their road games will be against playoff teams from a season ago (Rams, Texans, Ravens, Dolphins, Lions).

On the bright side, arguably the two toughest matchups for Buffalo (Kansas City and San Francisco) will take place at Highmark Stadium, where the Bills have posted a 20-6 record since the start of the 2021-2022 season.

5) Houston Texans (.526)

While the AFC South may be one of the more forgotten divisions in football, it was still one of the all-around best in 2023, despite providing only one playoff team. The top three teams in the division all finished above .500, and even the last-place Tennessee Titans still finished with the third-best record among last-place teams.

Outside of their own division, the Texans will also play the Chiefs, Bills, Dolphins, Lions, Cowboys, and Ravens. However, of those six games against 2023 playoff teams, only two will be on the road (Cowboys and Chiefs). The Texans may have tough opponents but they have been granted a small blessing in light of the challenges ahead.

4) Green Bay Packers (.526)

Fresh off securing the first victory for a seven-seed in the era of the current NFL playoff format, the Green Bay Packers will have a tough road back to the postseason. While the team will obviously have to face the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions twice, they will also be matched up against the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles on the road this year as well. Green Bay's toughest game though might be their matchup against San Francisco, a revenge game for the Pack, who lost to the 49ers in the Divisional Round last year. Fortunately for Green Bay, that game will be played at Lambeau.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers (.533)

Let's hope a change in scenery will bring out the old Russell Wilson. The former Broncos and Seahawks quarterback will have a very difficult first year in Pittsburgh as he'll be forced to play six games against the most competitive division in football.

2) Baltimore Ravens (.536)

The Baltimore Ravens finished last season with the best record in the NFL (13-4). Now, they'll have to back up that incredible campaign facing off against some of the toughest teams in the league. Not only will the Ravens be forced to face two playoff teams from a year ago -- the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers -- twice each, but they will also have to face the Cincinnati Bengals with a healthy Joe Burrow twice. On top of that, Kansas City, Buffalo, and Houston are all on their docket.

1) Cleveland Browns (.547)

It shouldn't be a shock that the toughest division in football has its top-three finishers on this list. When you have to play against playoff teams twice a year, the win percentage against goes up and up and up. Sadly for the Browns, not only will they have to face each second-place finisher in the AFC this year, but they will also have to face the AFC's No. 1 seed from a year ago twice, which is why Cleveland ranks ahead of Baltimore in this category.
